Local chef, restaurateur and broadcaster Simon Rimmer will host this year’s Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards.
Taking place at St George’s Hall on 24 May, the black-tie award ceremony recognises excellence across the city region’s tourism and hospitality industry.
Simon commented: “I am delighted to be hosting the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards 2018. The tourism and hospitality industry across the region has developed rapidly over the last few years and these awards provide an excellent opportunity to celebrate this success. Also, being on home ground makes the awards that bit extra special. I am really looking forward to meeting all the award winners”.
The event helps celebrate the region’s £4.3bn visitor economy, with over 500 people set to attend this year. 15 categories have already been shortlisted including ‘The People’s Choice Award’, the only one voted for by the general public.
Cathryn O’Grady from Eventful, the award organisers, said: “For Simon to agree to host the awards is fantastic news, his profile and knowledge of the region – particularly of the local restaurant scene, is strong, and his broadcasting skills should help the evening run smoothly.
“For this year’s awards we have had an incredible number of high quality entries, including a lot of new names, from right across the region’s tourism sector. It should be a great night, celebrating the best of the growing visitor economy.”
